EC RTD PROJECT IST-32264-2001
The
primary goal of the project is the development of nanotechnologies based
on the deposition of atoms focused by laser light (atom lithography).
The main objective is a progress towards the fabrication of basic elements
relevant for electronics, optoelectronics and information technology applications.
The structure and time-table of our Workplan reflects both the basic steps
required to develop and assess nanofabrication technologies in the 10 nm
range and the application of these nanotechnologies to the production of
unique devices. The crucial steps in the proposed development of the technology
are:

The main structure of the
Workplan,
broken into 8 workpackages for a total of 15 deliverables, has been inspired
by the following general criteria:
The
project pulls together complementary experimental and theoretical expertise
in cold-atom physics and nanoscale technology, as required for an activity
at the border of different disciplines. Five partners plus a subcontrancting
node are involved in the project, located in three different EC countries.
